Services for Alfred Otto Bearden, 86, of Plains will be at 2pm, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Plains First Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors at Plains First Baptist Church from 5-7pm, Tuesday.

Alfred passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at his home in Plains. He was born May 6, 1925 in Idalou to John Custer and Lola Kate Lee Bearden. He attended school at Johnson and Plains. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He received the American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal and World War II Victory Medal. He married Faye Hinkle on February 8, 1950 in Lovington, NM. He farmed his entire life. He was farmer of the year in 1969. He was a long time Coop board member of Yoakum County Gin. He received the Plains Athletic Super Booster Award in 2000. Alfred was a quiet, wise, honest, loving man, who was loved by many. He was a member of Plains First Baptist Church.

Alfred is preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Bell; sisters, Ruth Colter, Oma Faye Bearden, Fern Hillhouse, Dell Jones; brothers, Alonzo Bearden, Thomas Bearden and John Bearden.

His wife, Faye was the love of his life. They celebrated 62 years of marriage in February this year. His family was his greatest treasure.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Faye; 4 daughters, Donna Bowers and husband Tim of Plains, Nita Williams of Lubbock, Debra Lowe and husband Joel of Plains and Kathy Bell and husband Danny of Plains; 2 sisters, Zillah and Weida Bearden of Seminole; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice of Andrews.
