Services for Alta Merritt Lenning, 72, of Lubbock will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Addington and Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Alta passed away Friday July 18, 2008 in Lubbock. She was born May 6, 1936 in McAdoo, Texas. Her parents are Claude Lee and Carrie Mae Merritt. She moved with her family to Brownfield in 1940. Alta graduated from Brownfield High School in 1954. She married John Perkins in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1995. She then married Timothy F. Lenning in 1999. He preceded her in death in 2000. She moved to Lubbock about 10 years ago from Brownfield. Alta was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Alta is survived by her daughter, Claudia Lou Fincel of Abilene; a twin brother, Alton Merritt and his wife Earlene of Brownfield; companion, Don Weeks of Lubbock.
Alta will be in state on Monday from 9am-8pm. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8pm at Brownfield Funeral Home.
