Memorial services for Ben A. Scott, Jr. 87, of Brownfield will be held at 10am Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Smith officiating.
Ben passed away on September 25, 2013 in Lubbock. He was born on May 14, 1926 in Chillocothe, TX to Ben Albert and Mary Myrtle (Morgan) Scott. He moved to Brownfield from Spur in August 1930 with his parents, four sisters and a brother. Ben was a World War II veteran. He served in the Philippine Islands with the famous 43rd Winged Victory Division and later with the 1st Calvary Division and the 7th Calvary Regiment in Tokyo Japan. Ben was a member of the American Legion PAWS and The American Humane Society. He was baptized at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Spokane, WA. He attended public schools in West Point and Brownfield. He graduated from E. Burnam College in Chicago, IL and Business College in Houston.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Albert and Mary Myrtle Scott; 4 sisters, Mary Evelyn, Beaulah Ruth, Ruby Annis and Rosie Mae; 2 brothers, Melvin Herman and J.W. (Bozo) Scott.
Ben is survived by a sister-in-law, Cynthia Scott and several nieces and nephews.
