Memorial services for Billy Timmons, 81, of Brownfield will be at 10am, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Pat Cummins and Dr. Carl Moman officiating. Private graveside services will precede the memorial service at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Billy was born on July 20, 1929 to Maggie and Bill Timmons in Ropesville, Texas. He graduated from New Home High School and he attended Wayland Baptist University where he played basketball. He started farming in the Lakeview community where he met his wife Betty Yeatts. They were married on January 29, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Meadow, Texas. They were blessed with two sons Ricky and Stacy. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Brownfield. Their family was involved in the Terry County community. Billy served as the chairman of the ASCS committee in 1970 and also served as a president of the Terry County Farm Bureau. He and his family spent many summers in Creede, Colorado fly fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He was always looking forward to fishing with his sons and friends and always looking for an opportunity to tell a joke and make someone laugh.
Billy is survived by his loving wife Betty; a son, Stacy Timmons and wife Kim of Lubbock; three granddaughters, Danya Timmons Anderson of Dallas, Taryn Timmons of Plano and Astyn Davis of Southlake. He is preceded in death by his son Ricky who was the husband of Donna Timmons Miller of Plano. He is also survived by two brothers Roy Timmons and wife Norma of Brownfield and Wayne Timmons and wife Myra of Lubbock; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Brownfield or charity of one’s choice.
