Services for Carl Daniel Lowrey, 92, of Plains will be at 2pm, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Plains First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Horn and Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 Tuesday at Plains First Baptist Church.
Carl passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 in a Denver City hospital. He was born June 25, 1918 in Knox County, Texas to B. F. and Ora (Little) Lowrey. Carl married Ferne Bearden in 1940. She preceded him in death in 1987. He then married Marie Huddleston in 1988 in Plains. Carl farmed in Yoakum County for over 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Plains First Baptist Church. Carl is also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Fred, Oscar and Roy; a sister, Mary Faye Alexander.
Carl is survived by his wife Marie of Plains; 4 sons, Roy of Plains, Melvin of Tokio, Coy of Plains and Jerry of Tokio; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Pippin of Denver City; 3 step children, Darrel Lowrey, Sharon Gillis and Beverly McCan.
The family suggests memorials to The First Baptist Church of Plains or one's favorite charity.
