Services for Edrie Evelene (McNew) Vest Gruben, 85, of Brownfield will be 2pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

There will be a family visitation at Brownfield Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-6pm.

Edrie passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Lubbock. She was born on February 1, 1928 in Hunter, Texas to Walter J. and Opal Reece (Hill) McNew. Edrie married William Bell Gruben on April 6, 1973 in Brownfield. She owned and operated Edrie’s Beauty Shop for nearly 40 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Brownfield. She was also a member of Eastern Star where she was Past Worthy Matron. She is preceded in death by a grandchild, Corey Wayne Elam; 2 half brothers, Alfred and Kenneth Music.

Edrie is survived by her husband, William ”Bill” Gruben of Brownfield; her children, Barbara Elam and husband James of Springtown, Judy Emerson of Azle, Linda Nall and husband Woody of Brazoria and Larry Vest of Lake Stamford; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 half sisters and 2 half brothers; step children, Wayne Gruben and wife Barbara of Lamesa and Nita Davis and husband Floyd of Lamesa.
