Era Lea Caswell

Services for Era Lea Caswell, 89, formerly of Brownfield will be at 10am, Monday, December 17, 2012 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with sons-in-law, John Rogers and Sid Hill officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

There will be a family visitation at Brownfield Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-6pm.

Era Lea, joined her family and friends in Heaven on December 14, 2012. She was born January 9, 1923 to James Herbert Minter and Ida Elizabeth Ashby Minter in Van Zandt County, Texas. Era Lea “Sis” grew up in East, North and West Texas. She married Earl Caswell in Meadow, Texas June 10, 1944. They farmed at Union, Meadow, Anton and Gomez during their marriage. They were blessed with five daughters.

Era Lea loved to sing, dance and laugh. She was a hard worker. She helped her family to live during the Depression by cleaning, cooking and babysitting for families in the area. When she married, she worked right alongside Earl doing whatever farm work needed to be done.

Era Lea was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ralph and Jack Minter, sister, Gertie Kirkland and grandson, Tim Gibbs.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jodell and Leon Gibbs of Lamesa, Judy and Frankie Beadles, Carla and John Rogers of Lubbock, Barbara and Sid Hill of Cleburne and Ida and Don Haley of Brownfield. Era had nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Maurine Caswell and Linda Minter; 2 brothers, Dickie Minter and Rick Minter.
