Ernesto Diaz Perez, 82, of Meadow passed away on May 24, 2009. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Brownfield with Father Gerald Leatham officiating. Interment will follow in Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Ernesto was born on July 4, 1926 in Karnes City, Texas to Thomas and Anita Perez. He married Augustina Escobedo on January 12, 1951. They moved to Ropesville in 1967. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2004. Ernesto was also preceded in death by his son, Roberto Perez; his daughter, Elia (Annie) Blankenship; 3 sisters, Eloisa Garzes, Juanita Vasquez and Josephina Amaya; and his brother, Manuel Perez. He was a member of De Colores- Curcillista and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Ernesto is survived by 2 sons, Gilbert and Beatrice Perez of Meadow and Roger and Teresa of West Jordan, Utah; 6 daughters, Sylvia Perez and Juan Larralde of Odessa, Norma Martinez and Gilbert Lopez of Odessa, Olga and Johnny Rodriguez of Snyder, Rosa and George Bustillos of Meadow, Juanita and Joe Torres of Snyder and Laurie Ann Perez and Aracelli Salazar of Midland; 25 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his sister, Anita Amaya of Brady; his brother Thomas Perez of Plainview and his loving pets, Chato and Teddy.
