Evelyn Elizabeth Lewis, 90, of Brownfield passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in Tulsa, Ok. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating.
Evelyn was born on March 12, 1919 in Slocum, TX to the late Gilbert Roy and Cora Day. She moved with her family to Brownfield in 1924 graduating from Union High School and continuing her education at Texas Tech. She worked as a bookkeeper for J.B. Knight Hardware and Furniture for many years. Evelyn married R.L. Lewis on December 2, 1944 in Brownfield. Together they farmed throughout Terry County. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Lewis in 1990.
Evelyn is survived by two brothers, Victor Day and his wife Suzy of Tulsa, OK and Glen Day and his wife Joy of Plainview; her sister, Oleta Richardson of Davis, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
