Services for J. B. Blackwell, 87, of Brownfield will be at 10am, Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Smith and Rev. Odis Boring officiating. Private burial will be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

J.B. passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009 in the V.A. Hospital in Amarillo.
He was born February 22, 1922 in Lancaster to John and Louiza Dockery Blackwell. He married Rosie Mae Scott on Dec. 9, 1943 in Brownfield. She preceded him in death April 6, 2001. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran. J.B. was a farmer in the Wellman and Union areas. He owned and operated Blackwell's Blacksmith in Seagraves, worked for Johnson Mfg. in Lubbock and Brownfield Magneto until retiring in 1984. J.B. is also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

J.B. is survived by 3 brothers, Earl of Timpson, Jessie and wife Alice of Shenandoah, Iowa and Willie and wife Burlean of Mt. View, Ark; a brother-in-law, Ben Scott of Brownfield; 2 sisters, Essie Squires and husband Johnny of Shenandoah, Iowa and Anna Belle Barnes of Mt. View, Ark; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J.B. "Cynthia" Scott of Brownfield.
