Jimmy Doyle Smith, 64, of Amarillo passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Veteran's Hospital. Memorial services will be at 1:00p.m., Saturday, April 10,2010 at Trinity Fellowship Christian Church with Rev. El Cantu officiating.
Jimmy was born on April 27, 1945 in Carnigee, OK to Charlie and Ruth Smith. He joined the United States Army where he served as a military police officer in Vietnam. He married Lina Grove on April 1, 1977 in Amarillo. Jimmy owned his own truck, pridefully hauling bulls throughout the region. His biggest love in life was his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters; Mildred Gilliam, Charlene Gilvin and Charlene Hall.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Lina Smith of Amarillo, 2 sons, R.D. Smith and his wife Cindy of Athens and Jimmy D. Smith and his wife Heather of Amarillo; 2 daughters, MaryDawn Groneman and her husband Mark of Amarillo and Sharron Gonzalez and her husband Abel of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Susie Weimer and her husband Tom of Vega and Maxine Baxter of Amarillo; 1 brother, Freddie Smith of Amarillo and 14 grandchildren whom he loved very much.
