Joe will be in state at Plains First Baptist Church from 1pm-6pm on Monday. You may visit with the family from 4pm-6pm at the church.

Joe was born in Bell County near Temple, TX on September 22, 1927 to Joe and Rose (Dusek) Ancinec. His life began as a farm boy with four big sisters, “They were always telling me what to do”. Two more siblings followed in the coming years.

Striving for prosperity, in 1935 at the age of 8, Joseph, along with the rest of his family, moved to a farm in Hockley County, near Whitharral. After several years there, they again moved to a farm near Littlefield. He attended Whitharral and Littlefield schools. With war raging, he enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1945 to serve in WWII. After the end of the war, and after official discharge in 1946, he returned home and met a gorgeous little brunette, Patsy LaVerne McDaniel. Courtship flourished, and eventually they were married on September 20, 1947 at the First Baptist Church in Whitharral. They began their married life in Littlefield. Joe worked as an optician for Optometrists Davis and Armistead but had a strong desire for the farm life. They eventually decided to move to Whitharral and work on his parent’s farm. In July, 1949, they welcomed their first-born son, Gregory Dale. In October, 1952, he was joined by a baby sister, Patrice Gail. Opportunity arose, and in 1953 the family moved to a newly acquired farm near Plains, TX. In the fall of 1957, they were graced with yet another son, Bradley Curtis. In those 53 years, Joseph lived for the farm life. To break from routine, a game of dominoes with friends was always welcome. He retired from farming in 2001 and started to enjoy his favorite hobbies. He was always a strong believer in being fair and honest. He loved to help others and was always for the underdog. Discrimination was always a peeve.

Joe was preceded in death on July 30, 2010 by his wife of 63 years, LaVerne; his parents, two sons, Gregg in May 2009, and Bobby in March 1960; his grandson, Shad Ancinec; his great grandson, Ethan; his grandson-in-law, Brad Langford; sisters Bessie Sisson and Mary Monahan Hanks, brother Stanley Ancinec; brothers-in-law Cotton Sisson, Johnny Hanks, Bud Thurman, Kenneth McDaniel, Julian Broersma; Dale McDaniel and wife Marty.
