L. L. Pid Banta

Services for Leon Laroy “Pid” Banta, 85, of Brownfield will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Bishop and Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Burial will be at 10am, prior to service in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be family.

“Pid” was born on December 25, 1927 in Lamesa, Texas to John David and Hallie Verona (White) Banta. He graduated from Lamesa High School and then attended Texas A & M University. He farmed 64 years in Dawson County, Terry County and Andrews County until retiring this past summer. “Pid” married his childhood friend, Yvonne Middleton on January 28, 1950. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2009. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Banta.

“Pid” is survived by two sons, Mike Banta and his wife Cindy of Lubbock and Dennis Banta and his wife Cindy of Brownfield; a daughter, Donna Lane and her husband Robert of Yantis; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, LaWana Moore of Lubbock and Jeanine McKee of San Angelo.
