Lakeland Wood, 86, of Brownfield passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Brownfield. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Lakeland was born on August 31, 1922 in Jones County to George William and Olive Virginia Walser. She attended schools in Union. She married Henry Clifton Wood on August 17, 1939 in Brownfield. They moved to Brownfield together in 1984. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2008. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Lakeland is survived by her 2 sons, Robert Wood and Wendell Wood and his wife Brenda all of Seagraves; 2 daughters, Helen Rice of Kingston, TN and Debbie Hamilton and her husband Dwight of Midland; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and her sister, Emma Jackson of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorial donations to Calvary Baptist Church.
