Maria De La Luz Gutierrez

Funeral services for Rev. Maria De La Luz Castillo Gutierrez will be held privately.

Maria passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in Lubbock. She was born January 21, 1952 to Leopoldo and Octavia Castillo in Raymondville. She married Raul Gutierrez on December 17, 1972, in Monterey Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Maria served with her husband for 40 years as a pastor and 24 of those years were here in Brownfield. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and companion. Her family was her joy. She loved to do the work of the Lord and enjoyed going to church and being involved in church. She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.

Maria is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Rev. Raul Gutierrez of Brownfield; two daughters, Barby Gutierrez of Brownfield, Delia Sanchez and husband Sergio of McAllen; five grandchildren, Christian Salazar, Nathan Salazar and wife April, Noah Sanchez, Brandan Salazar and Elim Sanchez; as well as 13 brothers and sisters.
