Mattie Field

May 31, 1917 — March 19, 2012

Services for Mattie Field of Plains (Bronco) will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012, at
Plains First United Methodist Church with Chaplin Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Burial will be
in Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Mattie will be in state an hour prior to service time. The family will be available for visitation.

Mattie passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, in Lubbock at Carillon House. Mattie Elizabeth
Chambers was born on May 31, 1917, to Vester Melton Chambers and Mattie E. Posern Chambers
in Graham, Texas. In 1919, her family moved to what is now Lea County, New Mexico. Mattie
attended schools in McDonald, Tatum and Lovington, New Mexico. In 1939, she graduated from
the University of New Mexico. Shortly after graduation from college, she married Ty Field and
moved to Bronco, Texas.
It was there she spent the next sixty-five years of her life as a supportive wife, devoted mother and
committed community member. Mattie loved to cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends in her
home. She took great joy in nurturing her beautiful yard. She delighted in traveling anywhere,
anytime. She was an active and longtime member of Tsa Mo Ga Women’s Club. She was a member
of the First United Methodist Church of Plains, Texas.

Mattie is survived by two sons, Mike Field and wife, Jayne, of Lubbock; Dan Field and wife,
Glenda, of Lovington, New Mexico; and six grandchildren: Turner Field, John Field, Danya Salazar
and husband, Steve, Traysa Zimmerman and husband, Zac, Tray Field and wife, Joy, and Storm
Field, and eight great grandchildren.

The family thanks all the caring Carillon Home staff, Hospice of Lubbock, and Irene Jimenez for
their devoted care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Hospice of Lubbock, P. O. Box 16800, Lubbock, Texas 79490, or your favorite charity.
