Molly Cleo Singletary Goodpasture

Mollie Cleo Singletary Goodpasture, 96, of Brownfield passed away September 1, 2011. She was born October 18, 1914 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Frank and Lula Singletary.
Burial will be Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1:30 at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held at the First Baptist Chapel in Brownfield at 2:30 with Dr. Carl Moman officiating.
Mollie came to West Texas in 1922 in a covered wagon and settled in the Wellman area.
She married Grady Goodpasture January 20, 1934. He died in 1972. She married Jim West in 1981. He died in 1994.
Mollie sang in the choir for approximately 40 years. A chair in her name was established in the OB-GYN department at the Texas Tech University Medical Center. She organized the Band Boosters Association, which consisted of the parents of the High School Band. She served on the Board of Goodpasture since its beginning and chairman of the board since 1972.
She served on the Board of Texas Arts and Humanities for four years and served as Fine Arts Chairman of the Texas Federation of Women Clubs for several years. She served on the board of the Lubbock Civic Ballet and one year as president. She served on the board and as president of the Terry County Heritage Museum for one year. She was Worthy Matron of the local chapter of Eastern Star, Worthy Grand Matron of Texas and Worthy Grand Adah of General Grand Chapter, which includes the United States and several foreign countries. While Worthy Grand Matron, one of her projects was the Baytown Opportunity School, which helped finance the land for a new school for special needs children. This was done in Deenies’ honor.
In 1937, Mollie’s first child, Gradena, “Deenie” was born with Down Syndrome. She died in 1995. Her second child, Rita, was born in 1941.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Muldrow and her husband, Ken; grandchildren, Grady Muldrow and wife Molley, Tara Muldrow and husband Bob, Megan Dorfner and husband Aaron; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund of Brownfield.
