Services for Stella L. Roe, 61, of Brownfield will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Internment will follow at Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Stella passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Lubbock. She was born in Lubbock on January 16, 1947 to Harold and Wilma Rice. She attended Brownfield schools. Stella married Johnnie Padgette Roe on May 29, 1963 in Brownfield. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1996. She was currently working for her niece in a retail store in Lubbock. Stella lived for her grand kids, was a lifetime member of the PTA and a Silver Sponsor of the West Garrett Dance Company in Dumas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 sons, Johnnie M. Roe of Marietta, GA and Clint Roe and his wife Edith of Lubbock; a daughter, Laura Alwan and her husband Dale of Dumas; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Elbert Rice of Red Oak, Roy Rice of Stamford, and Don Abney of Patterson, LA; and a sister, Kay Abney of Fayetteville, Ark.
The family suggests memorials to the West Garrett Dance Company, 502 E. 7th, Dumas, TX. 79029.
