T.C. "Coleman" Williams, Jr. passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 in Lubbock. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Brownfield with Rev. Charles Addington and Don McWhorter officiating. Burial will be at 2p.m. in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in Lubbock.
He was born July 2, 1916 to Thomas and Harriett Williams. He graduated from Cisco High School in 1932. He attended 2 years at Cisco Junior College. He attended Texas Tech where he played basketball on a scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering. Coleman married Margaret Looman on September 14, 1940 in Lubbock. They lived in Midland where he worked as an engineer with the Railroad Commission. Coleman was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He moved to Terry County in 1946. He worked as the superintendent of Prentice, Wasson, Andrews, Snyder, Big Lake, and Seminole oil and gas fields for Honolulu Oil Corporation. He retired from Amoco in 1982. He was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Petroleum Institute. He was Co-Founder of the API Scholarship Committee at South Plains College. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Petroleum Short Course. He served Brownfield as Mayor and City Councilman for two terms. He was Chairman of the Terry County Park Board for 25 years. Coleman was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughter Anita Welch and her husband Jerry of Westcliffe, Colorado, his son, Tom Williams and his wife Willene of Houston, 2 grandchildren, Greg Crowley of San Francisco, and Mary Margaret Williams of Houston.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the South Plains College Foundation to benefit Coleman and Margaret Williams API Scholarship Fund, 1401 College Ave., Levelland, Texas 79336.
