Winnolee passed away on July 27, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born on August 31, 1918 to Fonzie Henry and Clyde Mae Sharp in Vernon. Winnolee married Lt. Col. John Lynch Johnson on July 20, 1943 in Vernon. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 1941 and went on to teach home economics in Meadow, Brownfield, and various American schools overseas after World War II, during which time her husband was stationed with the United States Air Force in Germany. Winnolee was a devoted military wife and enjoyed the opportunity to see many parts of the world during their military assignments. She developed a great love for traveling from those experiences. She was also devoted to and loved her family and friends, and influenced the lives of many students at home and abroad. After retirement, Winnolee and Lynch spent many years traveling in their RV and later lived in Rockport for 20 years. In 2003 they moved to Carillon retirement village in Lubbock. She loved painting, Pelicans, walking on the beach, collecting shells and was never seen with grey hair or unpainted nails. Winnolee had a delightful laughter that will not be soon forgotten.

Winnolee is survived by a large family who loved her dearly including a nephew, David Sharp; a niece, Nancy Chambers; great nephews and nieces; great great nephews and nieces; great great great nephews and nieces; and cousins galore.
