A Visitation for Alex Bovkoon Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 5pm - 7pm, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Brownfield Cemetery.

Alex Bovkoon Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Alex was born on May 4, 1936, to Alex Sr. and Anna (Versolenko) Bovkoon near Benedict, North Dakota. He was one of eight children and grew up learning the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide him throughout his life.

Alex married the love of his life, Judy Fast. Together they built a wonderful life centered on faith, family, and hard work. They eventually made their home in Brownfield, Texas, where they raised their family and became well known throughout the community.

Alex was a hardworking businessman and entrepreneur whose career in automobile business spanned more than 60 years. Alongside Judy, he owned and operated Bovkoon Auto Sales for many years before venturing into rental properties. The car lot was much more than a business—it was a gathering place. Friends, customers, and neighbors often stopped by just to visit, swap stories, tell jokes, and enjoy each other’s company. It wasn’t unusual for Alex to pull out a pair of dice and invite everyone to a friendly game. More importantly, he was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was to a lifelong friend, a customer, or even a stranger in need. If someone needed advice, a favor, or simply someone to listen, Alex was there. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Alex found joy in spending time with his family, visiting with friends and working on projects. He appreciated the simple things in life and took great pride in seeing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. His quiet strength, quick wit, generous heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Alex was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Bovkoon; his parents, Alex Sr. and Anna Bovkoon; his sisters, Mary Ann Bovkoon, Irene Eslinger, Ardella Chisholm, Grayce Dvirnak and Vivian Ellwein; and his brothers, Oscar and Matthew Bovkoon.

Alex is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Brent) Persilver; his sons, Myron (Ellen) Bovkoon and Todd (Kristie) Bovkoon; his grandsons, Braxton Persilver, Carter Bovkoon, Blane (Bailey) Bovkoon, and Thomas Bowen; his granddaughters, Amanda Cabe and Shelby (Matt) Bennett; his great-granddaughters, Kinsley Bovkoon, Quinnleigh Cabe, and Raylee Bennett; his great-grandsons, Tucker Cabe, Bodhi Bovkoon, and Maddix Bennett.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers and hospice staff whose kindness, compassion, and dedicated care brought comfort to Alex during his final days.

Whether you stopped by to buy a car, share a joke, roll a pair of dice, or simply visit for a while, Alex had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and in the family he cherished.
