A graveside service to honor Alta Yvonne Shelton's life will be held at a later date, arrangements yet to be determined by her family. In this time of loss, we encourage all who knew Alta to remember her generosity, warmth, and the love she shared so freely.

Yvonne, beloved mother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 19, 2026, at her home in Brownfield, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on September 20, 1939, in Farmington, New Mexico, Yvonne, lived a life dedicated to her family and her community.

Yvonne will be remembered for her unwavering work ethic during her more than 30 years at the Terry County Courthouse in the tax assessor's office, where she served with dedication and commitment. Her kindness and compassion left an enduring impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, H.W. Shelton; her devoted parents, A.J. and Ozell Hartman; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Jeanie Shelton. 

Yvonne's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her surviving family, including her son, Kent Shelton; daughter, Karla Rolen; brother, Ronnie Hartman (wife, Cuban); and her treasured granddaughters, Amber (and husband, Jeremy), April (and husband, Mike).
