Anna Winnell Young

Funeral Service for Anna Winnell Tucker Young will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Ropesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Titus officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Winnell was born on September 1, 1948, in Lubbock, TX to Winfred and Ellen Tucker. She passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 75. Winnell married her high school sweetheart, Joe Young on July 27, 1969, after they both graduated from Meadow High School in 1967.

Winnell’s passion for art led her to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Texas Tech University. She was known for her unwavering devotion as a wife, caregiver, and a "Super-Mom" to her daughters. After 42 years of marriage, she bravely faced the loss of her husband in 2011, finding solace in her faith as a longstanding member of Meadow United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Winnell found joy in traveling to visit her family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. 

Winnell is preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Ellen Tucker; husband, Joe Young; daughter, Emily Young; brother, Norman Tucker; and 2 nephews, Jonathon Jones and Danny Young. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Joanna Castaneda and husband Danny of Meadow, Rachel Young of Lubbock and Catharine Walker and husband Ryan of Idaho Falls, ID; 5 grandchildren, Ezekiel Young, Niko and Logan Castaneda, Zoey and Forrest Walker; 2 sisters, Marjorie Jones and husband Terry of Tool and Carolyn Keane and husband John of Gun Barrel City; in-laws, Mary and Mike Brock of Andrews, Gary and Christine Young of Porterville, CA, and Jerry Young of Amarillo; and numerous extended family.
