Graveside Service for Armando "Raymond" Cruz will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Meadow Cemetery, with Randy Allison officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Raymond was born on August 13, 1955, to Pedro and Catherine Cruz in Meadow, TX. He passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 69.
Raymond was known for his zest for life and adventurous spirit. He was deeply involved in farming in both Meadow and Denver City, dedicating his days to the agriculture industry. Raymond cherished the time spent with his son, Jeremy, whom many knew as J.C., bonding over team roping, where they won many buckles and saddles. Raymond was an avid gun collector and passionate hunter. He also enjoyed racing cars and driving motorcycles.
Additionally, Raymond's faith guided him, leading him to be baptized and attend the Meadow Church of Christ. Though his health eventually prevented him from attending services, his spiritual journey remained an integral part of his life until the very end.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Catherine Cruz; his wife, Kelly Cruz; his son, Jeremy "J.C." Cruz; and his brother, Johnny Cruz.
He is survived by his brother, Paul Cruz and wife, Patsy of Meadow; 6 nieces, Gloria Gonzales and husband, Mark of Lubbock, Linda Limon of Lubbock, Rebecca Cruz Nañez and husband, Frank of Las Vegas, NV, Angela Villarreal and husband, Jesse of Denver City, Priscilla Mercado and husband, Mike of Amarillo, and Mandy Morgan and husband, Steven of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law, Carmen Cruz of Denver City; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his first wife and friend, Carol Mendoza of College Station.
