Barbara was born on April 5, 1949, to Wilton and Mildred Brasfield in Keiser, AR. She passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 76.
Barbara was a character, known for her infectious laughter, unwavering spirit, and amazing work ethic. As one family member fondly remarked, "Barbara is good for a laugh and a good time."
Barbara grew up in the warm embrace of Arkansas, where she first found her calling as a beautician in Luxora. She earned her beautician's license and quickly became the darling of the community, known for her flair and charisma. After marrying her first husband, Bobby Howard, she dedicated herself to her family and her craft.
Pursuing new opportunities, Barbara and her son moved to West Texas, where she met and married Terry Young. Together, they embraced the challenges of farming in Bledsoe, TX. In 1995, seeking to be closer to her family, Barbara settled in the Odessa area, where she cultivated deep connections that lasted a lifetime through her work as a beautician.
Affectionately known as "Mema" to her grandchildren, Barbara loved them dearly and would do anything for her family. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with love, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her famous holiday meals, chocolate turtle candy, and cranberry salad. Her passion for cooking was only matched by her love for arrowhead hunting, spending countless hours in joyful exploration alongside her sister, Ann.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Wilton and Mildred Brasfield; 2 sisters, Betty Bunch and Jo Evelyn Baldwin; 4 brothers, Donald Ray Brasfield, Wilton Lee Brasfield, Bobby Wayne Bunch, and Earnest Brasfield; and her first husband, Bobby Howard. She is survived by her son, Chris Howard and wife, Angelique; 3 granddaughters, Nikki, Kameryn, and Devyn Howard; and grandson, Chase Howard; 4 sisters, Ann Hartman, Jeannie Hall, Lisa Bowen, and Teresa Hall; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
