Bettie Sue Cooper, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Brownfield community, departed this life peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Born to John and Eula Proctor on September 20, 1936, in May, Texas. Bettie lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy, marked by her unwavering spirit and her deep devotion to family.
Bettie was a proud graduate of beauty school and became a renowned hairdresser, touching the lives of many with her kindness and talent. She was not only known for her skill of 20 years but also for her incredible work ethic and devotion, as she faithfully assisted her husband in the wheat harvest across multiple states. Bettie adored her children and grandchildren, spending cherished moments with them that will be forever remembered. Bettie found joy in shopping and playing games of all kinds while constantly trying to sniff out cheaters, bringing laughter and light into the lives of those around her. Although Bettie was not fond of taking pictures, "unless they were silly ones," her vibrant personality and love for fun always shone through in every moment shared with family and friends.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Cooper; son, Roger Pendley; parents, John, Eula Proctor; siblings, J. L. Proctor, Corene Franks, Wanda Rogers, and Jettie Adcock.
Bettie is survived by her children, Kitha Tankersley, husband Brad, Eddie Joe Cooper, wife Sheila; grandchildren, Melinda Barrett, Jo'Shae Worley, husband Jerry, J. R. Ferguson, Brit Shaw, husband Dillon, and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish the memories they made with her.
