Funeral Services for Billie Jean Fair Cox will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Tucker and Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 16, 2023, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Billie went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in the afternoon surrounded by her family. She was born in Paducah, Texas on September 15, 1933, to Otto and Faye Fair. Her dad always told everyone that he sat up peaking at her all night long.
The Fair family moved to Littlefield, where they raised their family and Billie graduated from Littlefield High School in 1952. After graduation, she worked at the bank in Littlefield. A coworker at the bank introduced her to a handsome man, Jerry Cox. They fell in love and married on October 9, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2010. Soon after they married, they moved to Brownfield and bought the City Fruit Stand from Jerry's aunt, Clara Davis. They owned and operated the City Fruit Stand for many years.
Also preceding her in death, her parents and her sister Arlene Harguess.
Billie is survived by 3 daughters; Brenda Brown of Brownfield, Donna Tucker and husband Ray of Brownfield, and Teresa Carr and husband Charlie of Lubbock. 8 grandchildren; Lan Moody and wife Crystal, Justin Moody and wife Janet, Chris Tucker and wife Sandy, Cody Tucker and wife Kendra, Kelly Tucker and wife Pauline, Jessica Avey and husband JD, Colton Carr and wife Stormee, Katie Carr and fiancé Kaleb Curry. 8 great-grandchildren; Piper Jo Moody, Clay and Kade Tucker, Carson and Justus Tucker, Jace and Jordyn Avey and Stratton Carr. 2 sisters; Dodie Moore of Brownfield and Shirley Harguess of Brownfield. Several nieces and nephews. A very special caretaker, Lola Avitia.
Billie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Brownfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Immanuel Baptist Church, or Interim Hospice.
