Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Carma went home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by family on Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1937, to Carmen and Judy Williamson in Lubbock, TX. Carma graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955, where she was the first homecoming queen and met her high school sweetheart, Don.
Carma and Don were married for 19 years, and they had 4 children together. They lived in various places until 1968, when Carma and the children moved to Wellman. She lived out the remainder of her life in Wellman.
Carma went on to Texas Tech at the age of 40 to earn her teaching degree. She taught school for 38-plus years and continued subbing until she was unable. Carma's love for her students, school, and community brought immense joy to her life.
In 2000, she married Karl Spuhler. When they married, he brought along his children and grandchildren for her to love. She and Karl traveled many times in their camper to the mountains, which she loved.
Carma was a long-time member of Abundant Harvest Church in Brownfield, TX, where she loved worshiping Jesus alongside friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Judy Williamson; her sister, Marilyn Nislar; and her husband, Karl Spuhler. She is survived by her 4 children; son, Brent (Felita) Tankersley, son, Brad (Kitha) Tankersley, daughter, Shannon (Ben) Wilson, and son, Bill (Shawna) Tankersley; grandchildren; Ami (Chad) Wheeler, Jason (Sarah) Tankersley, Jo'Shae (Jerry) Worley, JR Ferguson, Brooke (Alex) Brown, Brit (Dillon) Shaw, Travis Tankersley, Taylor (Megan) Tankerlsey, Tanner Tankerlsey, and Hunter and Cooper; 19 great-grandchildren; and many close friends and students.
