Funeral Service for Gary Dane Clare will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at First Christian Church in Brownfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Dane was born on June 30, 1948, to John Clare Sr. and Nina Wells Clare in Brownfield. He passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 76.

Dane was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Reta, on January 2, 1988, in a heartfelt ceremony held in their living room. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home that became a sanctuary for family gatherings, a place where laughter and joy flourished, and memories were lovingly crafted.

As a devoted family man, Dane took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, pouring his heart into each relationship. He was known for his infectious laughter and for bringing people together, particularly over a cup of coffee while engaging in spirited games of dominoes with his buddies. His love for singing and dancing brought a smile to his face and was a big part of his life. Dane always had candy in his pocket for everyone he came across.

Dane had a deep appreciation for nature, often found enjoying the company of cows, indulging his passion for welding, and experiencing the thrill of hunting. These pastimes reflected not only his character but also his deep connection to the land and the community he cherished.

Dane was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nina Clare; siblings, John Brit Clare, Emily Darlene Charters, Nita Faye Martin, and Wanda Lee Clare; nephews, Brit Todd Clare and John Lee Clare, and nieces, Kimberly Marie Clare and Cynthia Leann Day. He is survived by his wife, Reta Clare; children, Gary Shane Clare, Patty Dawn Clare, Marty Lance Clare, Nickie Jo Clare, Dedra Skipworth, Roger Wheeler, and honorary son, David Wassom; sister, Jerry Dean Day; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
