Obituary

Funeral services for Demetrio Castro, Jr. will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at United Family Fellowship Church with John Fields officiating. A prayer service will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Demetrio “Demio” Castro Jr. was born on November 25, 1971, in Brownfield, Texas, and passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 54.

He is survived by his loving parents, Demetrio Riojas Castro and Guadalupe Fabila Castro; his siblings, Jerardo "Jerry" Castro and wife Joann Castro, Michelle Castro and husband Carlos Bazan, and sister, Esmeralda Castro Villarreal and brother Elizar Castro and Girlfriend Lynda Ortiz, step-daughter Becky Ann Salas, granddaughter Ava Ray'Ann Salas and grandson Asher "Wedito" Salas . He also leaves behind two nieces, six nephews, two great-nephews, and three great-nieces. Demio was lovingly known as “Bop Bop” to Ava Salas.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vicente and Basilia Fabila; his paternal grandparents, Conrado and Jesusa Castro; and his beloved wife, Crystal Elmore Castro, two uncles, Eliasar Castro and Nazario "Chayo" Fabila, two brother-in-laws, Rudy Villarreal and John Jason Villarreal and numerous cousins.

Demio had a passion for the simple joys in life. He loved washing cars, riding his Harley-Davidson, enjoying lemon cakes, and going on bike rides. He took great pride in caring for his lawn and was always known as a very tidy person. He cherished family gatherings, especially BBQs, and his family meant everything to him.

As the oldest, Demio was a pillar of strength and guidance. He taught his family to be strong, to stand their ground, and to always have each other’s backs. He would have defended his family with everything he had.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” — Psalm 91:1 (NIV)

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love. His legacy of strength, love, and devotion will live on in all who knew him.

Fly high and rest in peace. We will love you forever and always.

With love,

The Castro Family
