Dianna B.
Thompson
Jan 23, 1958 — Oct 12, 2026

Calvary Baptist Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Central time)
Services for Dianna will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield, Texas. She will be laid to rest at the Brownfield Cemetery next to her parents, brother-in-law, and nephew at a later date.
Dianna Kay Bridges Thompson, age 68, entered her Heavenly home on the morning of October 12, 2026, her God appointed date, while at her residence in Brownfield, Texas.
Dianna was born on January 23, 1958, as the youngest of four daughters to parents Paul “Chuck” Wayne Bridges and Shirley Aliene (Keith) Bridges.
In her youth, Dianna was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Brownfield. It was there that, as Dianna put it, she achieved her greatest accomplishment in life: accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior! She was born again and baptized on August 27, 1967. Many years later, in January 2024, Dianna rededicated her life to Jesus.
Dianna was blessed with two children from her first marriage: a son, Chuckie “Chuck” Lee Wright, and a daughter, Chastity Wright. Through Chuck, she was blessed with two grandchildren, Tyler Wright and Callie Wright, and three great-grandchildren. Through Chastity, she was blessed with two grandchildren, Camron Wilson and Cheyenne Wilson.
She later married Duke Zant. While life eventually took them in different directions, years later it would bring Duke and Dianna back into one another’s lives, where they found friendship and companionship once again.
On February 1, 2003, Dianna married Wendell Thompson. Together, they enjoyed a short but happy marriage until Wendell’s passing on May 7, 2008.
Throughout the years, Dianna worked numerous jobs in Odessa and Brownfield, including Boston’s Super Dog, the Brownfield Hospital Cafeteria, and later the Boll Weevil Eradication Program, where she ended her working career. Dianna retired in 2017.
In life, Dianna enjoyed many things. Among them was a good game of Bingo! From time to time, you could find her in a bingo hall somewhere in Lubbock, ready with a dauber in hand, spending time with friends and occasionally accompanied by her grandson, Camron.
Dianna treasured time spent with her family. She particularly enjoyed the holidays, when everyone would come together and she could catch up on their lives. She especially loved being with her sisters. Nothing could separate “the sisters.”
Dianna had a passion and a weakness for her animals as well. Whether it be a pot-bellied pig or a dog, they always held a special place in her heart. Grieving the death of one of these special companions was absolutely devastating to her.
Dianna is survived by her children, Chuckie “Chuck” Lee Wright and Chastity Wright; her grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Callie Wright, Camron Wilson, and Cheyenne Wilson; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Velva Bridges Hock and Connie Bridges Long and husband Mark; her brother-in-law, Lonny Milburn; her nieces and nephews, Kristy Burkett and husband Scott, Toby Bridges and wife LeNa, Bodie Taylor and wife Jenee, Jamie Taylor and wife Tara, and Shawna Meyer and husband Luke; and a host of extended family and friends.
Dianna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wendell Thompson; her sister, Sharon Bridges Milburn; her wonderful parents, Paul “Chuck” Wayne and Shirley Aliene (Keith) Bridges; her grandparents, Pete and Arvilla (Pinkston) Bridges and Ralph and Elizabeth Keith; her longtime brother-in-law, Marvin Hock; her nephew, Charles “Reno” Reneau; and the love of her life, Duke Zant.
An Acknowledgment from Dianna
“I would like to thank everyone that helped me with the challenges of this life. I cannot express my gratitude for the prayers, acts of kindness, food, and financial gifts that helped me get to the next month or day of my life. I pray that your reward is in Heaven. God bless each and every one of you.
To my family – mere words are inadequate to express my gratitude and love for each of you. I can honestly say that I would not have made it physically and probably spiritually if I did not have your love and support.
To my sweet grandson Camron – thank you for staying by my side day after day, and for always being there to care for me. The love and bond we shared meant more to me than words could express.”
— Dianna
