Funeral Service for Doyle Floyd will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Carter officiating, under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.

Doyle was born on December 12, 1942, to Elbert Loyce and Willie Zelma Floyd in Terry County, TX. He passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 83.

Doyle grew up in Terry County, where he graduated from Brownfield High School on May 22, 1961, before pursuing a Technological College Bachelor of Business Administration Degree on August 26, 1967, from Texas Tech University. His early career took him on adventurous paths as he worked as an accountant in Alaska and Hawaii. However, the call of home led him back to Texas, where he joined his brother in founding Floyd Brothers Welding in 1978.

Doyle's spirit was warm and welcoming. He was known not only for his skilled hands and love for woodworking-creating toys for children and thoughtful gifts for family-but also for his genuine care and compassion for those around him. He approached each day with a sense of humor that could light up any room, and his positive outlook on life was infectious.

At the core of Doyle's being was his profound love for the Lord. His faith was evident in every aspect of his life, touching the hearts of those who knew him. Doyle and his beloved wife, Mary Helen Jenkins Floyd, shared a beautiful union of 16 years, built on a foundation of faith and shared aspirations. Their love story began when Mary attended a Hebrew language class that Doyle was teaching at church-a meeting that would blossom into their lifelong journey together, where they would study the Bible side by side.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Loyce and Willie Zelma Floyd; brother, Elbert Middleton Floyd; and sister-in-law, Betty Linda Floyd. He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Floyd; step-daughters, Mary Michelle Wilson and Kathreen Hare; step-sons, Randal Wilson and wife, Marcie, and Jerry Wilson and wife, Rose; step-granddaughter, Katelyn Jones; god-daughters, Jennifer Ferguson and Sarah Steger and husband, Greg, and their twin girls, Cameron and Taylor Steger; niece, Kelly Serena Taylor-Joest and husband, Robert, and their children, Joshua Shankles and Chelsea Taylor; and cousin, Donita Tull and husband, Bob.
