James was one of the best welders around. He loved racing and trap shooting. James is preceded in death by his parents, E.J. and Sybil Mitchell; and son, Eddie James Mitchell.
James is survived by his wife, Janett Mitchell; daughter Synetta Shoemaker; son, Rick Mitchell; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother Kenneth Mitchell.
