Frances Upton

Funeral services for Frances Coy Gray Upton will be held at 10 am Friday, August 19, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery. 

There will be a public viewing at Brownfield Funeral Home on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Frances was born January 10, 1928, in Spur, Texas to Hugh and Ora Serena Gray. She married Charles W. Upton on December 24, 1946, at the Tokio Baptist parsonage. 

Frances was a homemaker, mother, and caregiver. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and a rural mail route carrier. Frances was a member of the Tokio Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She then transferred her church membership to Calvary Baptist Church.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Charles, her husband of 65 years, 6 sisters, and 3 brothers. 

She is survived by 2 daughters, Charlene Paul and husband, Ed, of Brownfield, Sharon and husband, Keith, of Levelland; a sister, Nadine Mobley of Andrews; 5 grandchildren, Jayson Hillhouse and wife Julie, Jamie Gore, Kyle Downs and wife, Lesli, Corey Downs and wife, Lauren, Craig Downs; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

The family appreciates the love and care provided by the staff at Cottage Village, the BRMC Home Health providers, BRMC doctors and staff, Brownfield Family Physicians staff and Interim Hospice.
