Ira Wondell Kirby

Services for Ira Wondell Kirby, 73, of Brownfield will be held at 11 am, Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Friday, October 25, 2019, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Ira was born January 23, 1946, to Jessie Lee and Ovie Louetta Kirby in Quanah, TX. He married Linda Joyce Russell in Brownfield on April 13, 1970, and they had 42 years together before she passed away in 2012. Ira is described by his family as a “stubborn ol’ man with a heart of gold!” He was known for his generosity – if you needed it, he’d give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar. Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Joyce; 2 daughters, Suzanne D. Kirby and Lynda Spann, and his parents.

He is survived by 2 sons, Ricky Kirby of Lubbock and Gregg Kirby and wife Tessa of Snyder; 2 daughters, Christi Fennell and husband Brian of Buda and Amanda Kirby of Brownfield; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
