James R. Jimmy Jones

March 23, 1941 — June 14, 2015

Services for James R. Jones “Jimmy” will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Brownfield Church of Christ with Bob Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, June 19, 2015 at Brownfield Funeral home and from 9:00am to 9:45am Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Brownfield Church of Christ.

On June 14, 2015 Jimmy was ready to meet his maker for final judgment and rewards. He was born March 23, 1941 in Brownfield. He graduated from Brownfield High School in 1959 and SMU School of Banking in 1973. Jimmy started working at the age of 14 driving a produce truck. At age 16 Jimmy started his 51 year career at The First National Bank of Brownfield. He married Edreann DuBose in Wellman on August 19, 1961. He was a member of Brownfield Church of Christ. He served for and held offices for the Jaycee’s, Toast Masters, Bank Administration and Noon Lions Club. He served as a board member for the hospital and ambulance board. Jimmy served his community with the United Way and anything asked of him. Jimmy also took care of the class reunions for several years.

Jimmy collected money for the Sheriff's Posse, American Cancer Society and any others when asked. Jimmy lived by the creed that service to community is the best service of life. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Tess Pennington.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Edreann Jones of Brownfield; son, Kenneth Jones and wife, Lisa, of Frisco; daughter Betty Jones of Brownfield; grandson, Skylar Jones of Brownfield, great grandchild, Brooklynn Jones of Lubbock; brothers, Foy Alonzo Jones, Sidney Jones and a sister Wanda Jean Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the local charity of choice, especially the BRMC EMS or donate blood as he cherished doing.
