Jimmy Young

Funeral services for Jimmy Young, 68, of Longview, will be held at 10 am, Friday, November, 18, 2022 at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel, Brownfield, TX with Rev. Chris Seaton officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 8:30 am to 10 am. Online condolences may be left for the family at brownfieldfuneralhome.com.  

Jimmy went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2022 in Lubbock. He was born in Brownfield on June 12, 1954 to Roy "JD" and Belle (Tealer) Young and was raised in Brownfield. He met the love of his life, Floria Sanders, when he was 18 years old and they've been together ever since. They were married on February 18, 2005, but had 50 years together. In the late 70's they moved to Longview, where they became members of Bible Teaching Ministries (BTM). His faith was a very important part of his life.

"Sporty J" loved to laugh and was a very outgoing, outspoken person. Everyone who met him loved him and he never met an enemy.  He was a talented, certified mechanic who loved rebuilding engines and customizing trucks. His two trucks were his "babies" - his family jokes that he loved them almost as much as his wife! Jimmy was a sharp dresser. Every time "Sporty J" went out, he was dressed to the 9's in his suit, hat, boots and walking cane. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Roy Young, Floyd Young, and Clyde Young, all of Brownfield; a sister, Gladis Foster; and a grandson, Cambridge Harrell. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Floria; daughter, Sheryl Harrell of Brownfield; son, Jimmy Sanders of Longview; sister, Virginia Sobalaje (DJ) of San Antonio; 4 brothers, Randy Young, James Young, Lynn Young (Emma), and Albert Young, all of Brownfield; nephew, Gregory Palmer of San Antonio; 6 grandkids, and a host of relatives and friends.
