A Graveside service for Johnie M. Pye will take place at Terry County Memorial Cemetery on August 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held at Brownfield Funeral Home on August 13, 2026, from 5 - 7 PM, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate Johnie's remarkable life. 

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Johnie Merle Pye on August 8, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Terry County on September 5, 1934, to Jasper and Susie Benthall, Johnie was a beacon of love and resilience throughout her life.Raised in a close-knit family and nurturing household, Johnie graduated from Dawson High School in Welch, Texas, where her early spirit of hard work and dedication first blossomed. She married Carl B. Pye, and together they began a lifelong journey that entwined family and farming-a testament to their unyielding commitment to their roots. Johnie tended to the farm with a steady hand, hoeing and moving pipe while gracefully fulfilling the responsibilities of a devoted wife and mother. Her passions extended beyond the fields; Johnie was an avid bowler who found joy in the camaraderie of league play at Sands Bowl. Her impact in the bowling community resonated deeply, as she served as the elected Terry County Association Secretary. Through her efforts, she connected local bowlers to the broader landscape of the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC) and the American Bowling Congress (ABC), bringing recognition to high scores and achievements at both state and national levels. A dedicated community member, Johnie worked with local farmers and the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), where her efforts helped countless families navigate the complexities of national farming programs. She even had the extraordinary opportunity to travel with the Lady Raiders basketball team to Australia, sharing in the joy of sport and friendship.

Johnie was preceded in death by: Husband Carl Benard Pye; parents Jasper Aaron and Susie Bentahll; daughter Susan Wheeler.

Johnie is survived by her beloved sons, Jon Mark Pye (wife Debbie) and Randy Pye; granddaughters Courtney Flores (Matthew) and Chelsea Castillo Otte (Nicholas).

Throughout her life, Johnie was a profound testament to the values of family, work, service, and community. Known and loved by many, she leaves a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
