Joyce Golden

Joyce Sedgwick Golden, 76, of Brownfield passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, in Brownfield. She was born August 22, 1943, in Littlefield, Texas to Amos and Oneta Sedgwick.

Joyce graduated from Brownfield High School in1961. She married Joe Roy Golden on April 26, 1963, in Brownfield, Texas. Joyce was a devoted mom and wife. She spent many years leading 4-H activities, serving at church events and raising her family. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1992. Then she spent 18 years teaching math at Lamesa, Dawson, and Brownfield. Joyce loved playing Skip-Bo, board games, traveling and spending time with her family, especially with her grandkids who called her Ganky.

Joyce is survived by her three children. Robin Rekieta and her husband Jerry of Lubbock. Janna Forbes and her husband Klint of Brownfield. Cory Golden and his wife Charissa Golden of Littlefield. Seven grandkids, Shaylee Forbes of Lubbock, Tyler Rekieta of Lubbock, Kayleigh Forbes of College Station, Megan Rekieta of Lubbock, Taryn Golden, Rhealee Golden, and Graceson Golden all of Littlefield. One brother Ronnie Sedgwick of Eagle Lake. Two dear friends Katrinka Parks of Brownfield and Gale Gore of Lubbock and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Roy Golden, her parents Amos and Oneta Sedgwick, one sister Janelle Hargrove and one brother Royce Sedgwick.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Brownfield Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Brownfield. Arrangements are under the care of Brownfield Funeral Home.
