Kenneth was born on July 1, 1946, in Stanton, Texas, to Foye and Margaret Powell. He passed away, surrounded by family, on January 20, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas.

Kenneth moved with his family to Plains at the age of 9. He attended Plains High School and graduated with the class of 1965. It was during this time that he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Susie. Introduced on a blind date, their connection was instant, and just 11 days after graduation, they exchanged vows on May 31, 1965.

Kenneth led a remarkable life, exemplifying dedication and service. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, where he played the tuba in the Admiral's Band. Music flowed through his veins, and he shared his passion with others during his time in the band.

For over four decades, from 1972 until his retirement in 2013, Kenneth worked as a devoted farmer in Plains, Texas. The fields thrived under his meticulous care, and his unwavering commitment to his profession brought him great joy and satisfaction.

Beyond his love for farming, Kenneth held a deep spiritual faith in Christ that guided his life. He found solace and strength in his belief, cherishing the teachings and values that shaped his character. Spanish was Kenneth’s first language and he loved serving as a translator for those who needed it.

Moreover, Kenneth had a mischievous and playful spirit. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, he always had a joke or a funny anecdote ready to share. His infectious laughter and light-hearted nature brightened the lives of those around him, leaving lasting memories of happiness and joy.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Foye and Margaret Powell; and 2 sons, Kenneth Warren Powell, Jr. and Kendall Wayne Powell.

He is survived be his wife, Susie; son, Kenley Powell and wife, Amber; daughter, Keri Powell; 5 grandchildren, Kenyon Powell and wife, Kelsey, Dustin Powell and wife, Jessica, Karla Compary and husband, Chance, Hunter Powell, and Beatrice Powell; 5 great-grandchildren, Kooper Powell, Kensey Powell, Kimber Powell, Braxtyn Compary, and Remi Compary; a sister, Janice Capps; and a brother, Terry Powell.
