Linda Faye Newsom McCutcheon, 81, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was born on November 2, 1944, in Brownfield, Texas, to Gordon Murl Newsom and Faye Maurine (Lloyd) Newsom.

Linda graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1963. During her early years, she lived with her mother in several locations before settling in Midland, Texas, and spent many summers in Brownfield with her father, Gordon. On June 20, 1964, she married Edward L. McCutcheon. From this union, three children were born.

Linda was a lifelong member of the former First United Methodist Church of Brownfield. She worked in real estate and insurance for many years and made her home in Brownfield until 1998, when she moved to Lubbock. While in Lubbock, she later worked in the health care industry. In 2020, Linda moved to North Richland Hills to live with her daughter, where she remained until her passing.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Newsom and Maurine Newsom; grandson, Michael Lloyd Matherly; and her sister, Myrna Dodd. She is survived by 2 daughters, Lynn Matherly, Paige (Travis) Brown, and a son, Lance (Hollie) McCutcheon; 5 grandchildren, Trenton Brown, Melissa (Thomas) Schulz, Trevor (Amy) Brown, Matthew Matherly, and Hannah McCutcheon; 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother Tommy (Melody) Newsom.

A private burial will be held at Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
