Manuel Rivera Perez, Jr.

Funeral services for Manuel Rivera Perez, Jr. will be held at 10 am Friday, July 19, 2019, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will follow in the Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Rosary will be Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Brownfield Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Manuel passed away at his home in Brownfield Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He was born June 11, 1943, in McAllen to Manuel Perez Sr. and Enriquetta Rivera Perez. Manuel served in the Army National Guard from September 20, 1973, until his retirement on June 11, 2003. He married Francisca Rios on February 16, 2002. He was married to his beloved wife for 17 years. Manuel loved to grill and participate in cookoffs. He enjoyed talking about his military life and when he was in a band. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He had a passion for hunting and his friends. Manuel was known as "Poppers". Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, his son Edward James Perez, sister Guadalupe Villarreal, and brother Victor Perez.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Frances Perez; his children, Jacob Perez, Nick Perez, Becky Garza and husband Fred, Diana Contreras and husband Victor, Peggy Aguero and husband Henry, Manuel Perez Jr., Roland Perez and wife Liz; step-children, Criselda Garza, Marivelle Garza, Estrella Rodriguez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
