Funeral Service for Maria Miranda, 91, of Brownfield, will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home with Father Teo officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Maria Miranda was born on September 21, 1934, in Leander, Texas. She devoted her career to serving others as a cook at the local nursing home, where her culinary skills brought comfort and joy to the residents. Her cooking was not just a profession; it was an expression of her love and care for those around her. Friends and family alike remember her delightful dishes and the warmth she instilled in every meal shared together.

A dedicated Catholic, Maria's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She embraced the teachings of her religion with a heartfelt devotion that inspired those around her. She was very proud of her son, Martin and his deaconship in the church. Her spirituality guided her actions and relationships, fostering a sense of community and belonging among her family and friends.

Maria was especially fond of her grandchildren, often speaking about their achievements with pride and excitement. Their visits were a highlight of her days, filling her home with laughter and joy. Her love for them was palpable, evident in the countless meals she prepared and the moments she cherished with them. Beyond her culinary talents, Maria was known for her amazing gardening skills. She nurtured her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her family, cultivating a beautiful home filled with life and color. Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Manuel Miranda; sons, Vernardo "Vernie" Miranda and Toby Miranda; daughter, Tomasa Rodriguez; parents, Abundio and Augustina Barron; brothers, Jesus, Cresencio, and Pedro Barron and sister, Santiaga Martinez.

Maria is survived by her daughters, Felipa Esparza, Gloria Franco, Ysabel Serna and husband Jerry, and Maria Traylors; sons, Felipe Miranda, Santiago Miranda, Alfred Miranda, Manuel Miranda and wife Alice; Deacon Martin Miranda and wife Irene; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 27 great- great-grandchildren.
