Modesta Asta Vargas Longoria

Funeral Services for Modesta Asta Vargas Longoria will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. A Rosary will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Modesta, who was born on November 18, 1936, in Tacámbaro, Michoacán, Mexico, passed away on June 17, 2023, in Brownfield in Texas. She was known as a dedicated homemaker with a passion for cooking and nurturing her loved ones. Her love for gardening and growing flowers, especially roses, was unmatched. Modesta's legacy will always be cherished by the people whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Longoria; siblings, Trinidad Vargas, Ustacio Vargas, Vencelado Vargas, Abram Vargas, Nicolas Vargas and Carmen Vargas.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members -  2 daughters, Alice Longoria and husband Paul Lopez, Esmeralda Trejo and husband, Luciano Trejo; son, Gilbert Melchor and wife, Maricela Melchor; 9 grandchildren, Ricky Lopez, Jazzman Lopez, Jeremy Lopez, ReGina Lopez, Thalia Lopez,  Michael Trejo, Hector Trejo, Ricky Melchor and Maricela Melchor; 3 great-grandchildren, Ian Lopez, Lee Anthony Florez, Sophia Lopez and siblings Umberto Vargas, Magdalena Vargas, Anita Vargas, Guillermina Vargas and Minerva Vargas.

Modesta lived her life to the fullest taking pride in raising a family with dedication and love. She has left a void that may never heal but also an imprint of kindness that will stay forever.
