Funeral Services for Myrna Gene Newsom Hunter Dodd will be held at First United Methodist Church in Brownfield on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 2 pm.

Myrna was born in Lubbock on November 8, 1945 to Gordon M. and Maureen F. Newsom and joined the Lord on August 27, 2019 in Wichita Falls with her husband and daughter by her side. She spent most of her life in the West Texas area, residing in Brownfield, Lubbock, Seminole and Midland areas. She graduated from Texas Tech University. Myrna was a vibrant and spirited individual who was loved by her family and friends for her humor and smile. Myrna was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. Her family has many special memories of moments spent with Myrna. Family was the most important aspect of Myrna’s life and everything she did was for her family. She was a truly special and amazing individual that will be missed.

On August 20, 1991 Myrna married the love of her life and surviving husband, Billy J. Dodd of Graham. They had just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. She was blessed to be married to her best friend and partner. Her husband held her hand and gave her encouragement and support through their 28 years together until her last moment.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Hunter Bragg and husband Donald Wayne Bragg of Graham, from her first marriage; two stepchildren, William B. Dodd and wife Crystal, of Cibolo, Patricia L. Dodd of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren, Dolan A. Hunter of Graham and Mason, Tanner, Brady and Peyton Dodd of Cibolo; sister Linda F. McCutcheon of Lubbock; brother Tommy L. Newsom of San Antonio; two nieces, Lynn Matherly of North Richland Hills, Page Brown of Amarillo; one nephew, Lance McCutcheon of Woodson, Georgia; as well as a loving extended family and large network of close friends.
