N. R. Bill Marchbanks

Graveside Service for N. R. (Bill) Marchbanks Jr. will be held at 2 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Brownfield Cemetery with Rev. Hilary Marchbanks officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm Friday, October 16, 2015 at Brownfield Funeral Home.

Bill Marchbanks, 89, of Georgetown passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015. He was born October 22, 1925 to Nathaniel and Hope Marchbanks. He graduated from Brownfield High School and then went on to the Marines and fought in WWII. Bill married Nita Worsham in Brownfield on March 20, 1944. He was a farmer, which was his lifelong dream. He served on the Board of Directors for Brownfield First National Bank for 20 years and on the Brownfield City Council. Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, W.W. Marchbanks, M.P. Marchbanks, Tolbert Marchbanks and Dick Marchbanks; 4 sisiters, Mary Catherine Crampart, Doris Treadaway, Mary Helen Marchbanks and Jimmie Hopper.

He is survived his wife, Nita Marchbalnks; a son, John Marchbanks, from Belton, Tx; 2 grandchildren, Nicole Crain and Ryan Marchbanks; 4 great grandchildren, Gus Crain, Dub Crain, Ridley Marchbanks and Ryder Marchbanks
