Funeral Services for Nita Williams will be conducted Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Plains. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery with services under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home and Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Nita went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family.

Nita Williams was born in Brownfield, TX, on February 22, 1943, to James (Jim) and Lois (Faye) (Hinkle) Williams. Jim passed away in 1948. In 1950, Faye married Alfred Bearden, who took care of Nita as his own.

Nita graduated from Plains High School in 1960. Nita married Don Williams on June 1, 1960. Together, they had 3 sons: Lance Williams (born in 1962), Guy Williams (born in 1964), and Ace Williams (born in 1975).

Nita always enjoyed planting her spring garden to share with everyone. She would gather her kids and siblings and teach them the importance and value of taking care of a garden. She took great pride in feeding and caring for others, a theme that carried throughout her life.

Nita always found great joy in giving prizes to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Being able to give was what brought Nita the most joy. Nita especially enjoyed taking her family on camping trips to the lake. Mornings always began with her cooking a big breakfast of eggs and potatoes for everyone. Nita had a big, giving heart, and caring for others came as naturally to her as breathing.

She was a part-owner of the flower shop Leaf and Petal as well as the restaurant Don's Fun Machine, further reflecting her love of community and hospitality. In 1969, Nita helped start the Little Dribblers Basketball Association, which continues to thrive today. She was deeply involved in the community and supported all youth sports with dedication and enthusiasm.

Over the years, she worked at Plains Farm Supply, Plains Cable, Yoakum County Co-op Gin, and later served as office manager at Idalou Gin. She also proudly served her community as a volunteer EMT in Plains, Texas. She was always willing to help those in need. Nita was also a very gifted seamstress. She made many prom dresses and bridesmaids' dresses over the years. In her last giving role, she was a caregiver for her granddaughter, Shelby. Shelby brought such joy to Nita's heart.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church and faithfully served on multiple mission trips to Japan and Paris, France. A true jack of all trades, Nita could accomplish anything she set her mind to and did so with grace, generosity, and love.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Faye Bearden, and nephew Justin Bell.

She is survived by son Lance Williams and wife Lori of Lubbock, son Guy Williams and wife Tonya of Odessa, son Ace Williams and wife Jen of Lubbock, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Debra Lowe and husband Joel, Donna Bowers and husband Tim, Kathy Bell and husband Danny...all of Plains, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
