Norma Jean Winchester was born on January 10, 1951, to Fred and Lola Akers Macklin in Van Nuys, CA. She passed away on July 28, 2025, at the age of 74.
Norma’s life was marked by her devotion to family and friends, as well as her unyielding commitment to sharing laughter and love with those around her. She married Gordon Hyde Winchester Jr. in Healdsburg, California, in 1981, and together they enjoyed a remarkable 42 years filled with adventure, challenges, and resilience.
Throughout her career as an administrative assistant, Norma showcased her organizational skills while bringing a sense of humor to the workplace that was appreciated by her colleagues. Beyond her professional life, she was known for being crafty and handy, always finding ways to beautify her home and create a warm environment for her family. She taught her children to be independent and self-sufficient, as well as many other skills that have carried them through life.
A social butterfly, Norma was unafraid to express her opinions and never met a stranger. Her caring nature and fierce loyalty to those she loved truly defined her character. She danced and laughed easily, always sharing her infectious smiles.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Hyde Winchester Jr; her parents, Fred and Lola Akers Macklin; son, Timothy Allen Ericson; 2 sisters, Vivian Wheeler and Brittie Bratcher Ratekin.
She is survived by 2 sons, Jasen Ericson (Robyn) and Jesse Winchester (Skyleigh); daughter, Jade Ward (Clovis); 8 grandchildren, Ashley Winchester, Bella Winchester, Remy Winchester, Nicholas Ericson, Brittany Ericson, Joseph Jaden Ericson, Russell Ward, and Rory Ward; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Cremation services are entrusted to the care of Brownfield Funeral Home.
