Robert Henson

Memorial Service for Robert Henson will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Meadow First Baptist Church under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Heath officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Meadow First Baptist Church.

Robert was born on September 2, 1942 in Brownfield, TX to Hubert and Rose Gene Henson.  He attended school and graduated from Meadow High School in 1960.  He married Henri Fowler on February 11, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived and farmed in the Meadow community until retirement. Robert and Henri were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Meadow for over 50 years where he also served as a Deacon. He served on the Meadow School Board, Meadow Museum Board and the Meadow Cemetery Association.  

Robert was a quick-witted and committed community leader.  He was always ready to discuss the regional sports scene, latest town news and of course, welcomed all opportunities to share his unique and hard-earned wisdom.  In short, Robert Alan Henson (AKA "Bub") was fully and unapologetically himself, providing entertainment, leadership and a special spark to his community and an immovable foundation for his family to depend on. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Henri and his parents. Robert was blessed with the gift of being a genuine, authentic person who influenced the lives of so many great friends that he called family.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Cindy Hogue and husband Matt of Meadow, Dr. Tracy McBee and husband James of Meadow, Stacy Henson of Haslet; son Jon Henson and wife, Shannon of Lubbock; sister Tootie Roper of Brenham; grandchildren, Tanner Hogue and wife Erica; Steelee Fischbacher and husband, Chris; Chelsey Pope and husband, Travis; Hank Henson and wife Baylee; Riley McBee and wife Sidney; Tate McBee, Lindsey Gilliam and husband, Keaton; Amber Cowan; seven great grandchildren, Mattlee and Case Fischbacher, Hayden and Hunter Hogue, Cedar Gilliam, Saylor Salas, Tessa and Kambry Cowan.
