Robert Michael “Mike” Richardson, 74, of Brownfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Brownfield.

Mike was born on October 1, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas, to L.J. and Nora Jo Richardson. He was raised in Brownfield, where he graduated from Brownfield High School before attending Texas Tech University. Brownfield was always home, and throughout his life he remained deeply connected to the community and the people who made it special.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Mike dedicated most of his professional life to community banking. He began his career with First National Bank of Brownfield, where he earned the trust and respect of customers, employees, and fellow bankers through his integrity, sound judgment, and genuine concern for others. After moving to Nashville with his family to pursue a music career, he also enjoyed a career in real estate in which he enjoyed building homes with his wife Sandra. After moving back to Brownfield, Mike served as President of First National Bank and Lone Star State Bank until his retirement.

While he was loved by his friends, Mike was adored by his family. To them, he was larger than life. He constantly laughed with, loved on, and encouraged them to reach for the stars in all their endeavors! Mike’s ultimate enjoyment came from time spent with his family. His favorite memories were endless days in the summer throwing batting practice to his boys and coaching their baseball teams. He loved the golf trips and competitive doubles tennis matches with the family. He and Sandra also made many great memories on their trips to Vegas. Most recently he lit up when getting to spend time with his granddaughters. A lifetime lover of music, his family and friends will always have fond memories of Mike strumming his guitar and belting out his favorite tunes.

A Christian, Mike was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Brownfield. His faith quietly shaped the way he lived—placing family first, treating others with kindness, and leading by example rather than by words.

He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Sandra. They enjoyed over 53 years of marriage and were an incredible example of unconditional love to their children and grandchildren.

While many knew him as Mike, his favorite title was the one given to him by his five granddaughters—“Biggie.” Biggie cherished every moment with Nora, Ava, Claire, Maddie, and Sophie. They were truly the joy of his life.

Those who knew Mike will remember his calm demeanor, dry sense of humor, gentle spirit, and unwavering integrity. He possessed a unique ability to make people feel comfortable and valued. His wisdom, humility, and quiet generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Besides his wife, Sandra, Mike is survived by his son, Steven Richardson and wife, Faith Richardson, of Fort Worth, Texas, and their daughters, Nora and Ava; his son, Scott Richardson and wife, Stephanie Richardson, of Nashville, Tennessee, and their daughters, Claire, Maddie, and Sophie; and his sister, Rebecca Henson of Sacramento, California.

He was preceded in death by his father, L.J. Richardson, and his mother, Nora Jo Richardson.

Mike’s legacy is one of faith, family, friendship, and service. He lived a life marked by humility, compassion, and quiet leadership.
